Cream cheese butter bars are an obsession of mine and they will be for you too! These bars have lots of sugary buttery gooeyness that just melts in your mouth! You’ll find this dessert is one that won’t last long on any dessert table! This recipe was gifted to me by a dear friend and was a favorite among our co-worker group and I hope it will be just as delicious for you too!

What Are The Ingredients In Cream Cheese Butter Bars?

These cream cheese butter bars are made of simple ingredients, separated into two different parts.

  • 1 Box of Yellow Cake Mix
  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 Sticks Of Butter
  • 8 Oz of Softened Cream Cheese
  • 2 Cups of Powdered Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla

How To Make Cream Cheese Butter Bars.

So this is a very simple recipe you can make for any party or get together! To begin with, you are going to want the eggs at room temp. *This will ensure your batter will come together and bake evenly! You can do this by putting them in a bowl of warm water for a few minutes. Next, melt your butter in two different bowls and set aside. As for the cream cheese, you’ll want this a little more softened than room temp, so go ahead and just pop it straight in the microwave, from fridge, for about 30 seconds!

This recipe can be done by hand, but it is much easier to use a kitchenAid mixer! The benefits of using a mixer, is you only have 1 big bowl and attachment to wash, rather than 1 or 2 bowls plus different utensils. You can purchase so many different attachments to make unlimited treats and goodies, plus, its pretty! So if you don’t already have a KitchenAid mixer and measuring cup set, this is definitely going to be a wonderful addition to your kitchen!

Now take your cake mix, 1 egg and the 1 stick of melted butter. Place together in your mixer bowl and turn on medium for about 1 minute. Spread this mixture evenly along your 9×13″ glass pan. This will create the cake base that will hold the whole thing together and oh so yummy! Next up is the filling mixture! Mix your softened cream cheese, vanilla and 2 eggs together until fully combined. Add your 2 cups of powdered sugar, mixing slowly as to not make a huge mess!

Okay so now, this is where, the star, of the show, shows up! With your mixer on, ever so slowly, start pouring your melted butter in. This will create that lusciously smooth mixture, that will just melt in your mouth and make these cream cheese butter bars irresistible!

How To Bake Cream Cheese Butter Bars

Pour the filling over top of the cake batter and place in your preheated oven at 350 degrees for about 35-40 minutes. When done cooking, it will have slightly browned edges which will be almost like a caramel texture, while in the middle, it will create ooey gooey pieces, that will firm up while it cools. Wait for it to be completely cooled before cutting.

How To Serve!

Serve day of or next day, with a nice glass of milk. These should last well for a few days in the fridge. Wait, who am I kidding, these will last no longer than a few minutes! HAHA! Enjoy this wonderful recipe given to me by an old friend!

Making the Cream Cheese Butter Bars

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Mix your cake mix, 1/2 cup of melted butter and 1 egg together for about a minute.

  3. Place into bottom of greased 9x13" glass pan and set aside.

  4. Mix your almost melted cream cheese, 2 eggs and 1 tsp of vanilla together until fully combined. 

  5. Turn your mixer to low and add in 2 cups of powdered sugar. 

  6. Once mixed completely, pour in your last stick of melted butter very slowly!

  7. Pour this filling mixture overtop of the cake base and bake for about 35-40 minutes

  8. This yummy treat is done cooking once the edges are just slightly browned and the middle is soft. *It will firm up as it cools. 

  9. Serve 1-2 squares with a nice glass of milk and enjoy!
